Main highlights

Boat trips, oysters and mussels, viewpoint

Lim Bay (Limski kanal) is a narrow inlet of the sea that cuts about 10 km into the Istrian coast between Vrsar and Rovinj. Steep wooded slopes rise on both sides, so it is often described as a fjord, although it was formed differently.

Why go

Its clean water is used to farm oysters and mussels, served fresh in the restaurants at the end of the bay. Boat trips from Rovinj, Vrsar and Poreč sail along it, and a viewpoint on the road from Vrsar gives the classic view from above.

Above the bay, Romuald’s Cave is linked with a legend of an 11th-century hermit.

Getting there and around

By car, follow the road from Vrsar or Rovinj to the restaurants at the end of the bay. Boat trips leave daily in season from Rovinj, Vrsar and Poreč.

Frequently asked questions
