Main highlights

White pebbles, clear water, old stone houses

Dubovica is a small, sheltered bay on the south coast of Hvar, about 20 minutes’ drive east of Hvar Town. A crescent of white pebbles, very clear water and a few old stone houses make it one of the island’s most photographed beaches.

Why go

It is far quieter than the beaches near Hvar Town, especially early in the day. Facilities are basic, so bring water, snacks and something for shade, and swimming shoes for the rocky edges.

Getting there and around

Park along the main road above the bay – spaces are very limited and fill early in July and August – then walk down a steep path for about 10 minutes. The climb back is hard in the midday heat and not suitable for anyone with limited mobility.
