Slunj is a small town in central Croatia on the road between Karlovac and the Plitvice Lakes. Below it lies Rastoke, a village of old wooden watermills built over the waterfalls where the Slunjčica River flows into the Korana.
Why visit
Rastoke is often called a small Plitvice: water runs between the houses, under footbridges and over mossy travertine steps. A walk around the mills takes an hour or two, and it is lovely in spring when the rivers are full and in autumn colours.
It is an easy stop on the way to or from the Plitvice Lakes, around half an hour further south.
