Novigrad is a small town on a peninsula on the west coast of Istria, between Umag and Poreč. Parts of its old walls still stand, and fishing boats still use its harbour.

Why visit

The old town is quick to explore: the church of St Pelagius with its tall bell tower, the Lapidarium museum and the seafront where the sunset is the evening’s main event. Restaurants serve fresh fish and Istrian specialities.

Novigrad is a calm base for cycling, the Mirna river valley and day trips to the hilltop towns of inland Istria.

Where to stay

The old town and the waterfront for restaurants; resorts and campsites outside town for families.

Getting there and around

Novigrad is about 30 minutes from Poreč and an hour from Pula Airport. Buses connect it with the other coastal towns.
