Main highlights

Old town, St Lawrence Cathedral, Kamerlengo Fortress

Trogir is a small walled town on an islet between the mainland and the island of Čiovo, linked to both by short bridges. Its whole historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it is only a few minutes from Split Airport.

Why visit

Inside the old walls you find narrow stone lanes, Romanesque and Renaissance palaces and the Cathedral of St Lawrence, famous for the stone portal carved by Master Radovan. The seafront Riva ends at the Kamerlengo Fortress, whose walls give a good view over the town and the harbour.

Trogir works well as a first or last night in Croatia because of the airport, and as a day trip from Split by bus or by boat. Beaches are on Čiovo and along the mainland coast towards Seget.

Where to stay

Sleep in the old town for atmosphere, or on Čiovo for sea views, beaches and easier parking – the walk over the bridge takes a few minutes.

Getting there and around

Split Airport is around 6 km away. Local buses run often between Trogir and Split, and in summer boats connect Trogir with Split and nearby beaches.

Parking

The old town is car-free. Use the paid car parks on the mainland side of the bridge; in July and August they fill up by late morning.
