Supetar is the main town on the north coast of Brač and the arrival point for the car ferry from Split. It is a small, relaxed place with a harbour promenade, pebble beaches and plenty of family-friendly accommodation.
Why visit
The beaches start a few minutes’ walk from the port and continue along a pine-shaded path to the west. The parish church of St Peter and the seaside cemetery, with its carved stone tombs, are worth a short walk.
Because the ferry arrives here, Supetar is the most practical base on Brač without a car: you can visit Split for the day and still reach the island’s villages by local bus.
Where to stay
Stay along the beach path west of the port for swimming, or in the centre for restaurants and the ferry.
Getting there and around
Car ferries from Split take about 50 minutes and run many times a day in summer. Local buses connect Supetar with Bol and other villages.
Parking
There are paid car parks near the port. Arrive early for summer ferries back to Split and expect queues.
