Splitska is a small village around a harbour on the north coast of Brač, about 6 km from Supetar. The Romans quarried stone here for Diocletian’s Palace in Split, and the quiet bay is still lined with old stone houses.
Why visit
Splitska suits travellers who want a peaceful base close to the ferry: a small pebble beach, a few restaurants and a waterfront where little happens after dark. The old Roman quarry is a few hundred metres from the main road, and the fortified Cerinić castle was built in 1577 as a defence against the Ottomans.
Škrip, the oldest settlement on Brač and home of the island’s museum, is a short drive up the hill.
Where to stay
Apartments sit around the harbour and on the slopes above it. Supetar is close for shops, restaurants and the ferry.
Getting there and around
Take the car ferry from Split to Supetar, then drive about 10 minutes. In summer a small passenger boat also sails directly from Split to Splitska – check whether it is running before you plan around it.
Parking
Parking is easy most of the year. In July and August, park at the edge of the village.
