Vrbnik is a small stone town on a cliff above the sea on the east coast of Krk. Its narrow lanes, archways and views across to the Velebit mountains make it one of the most photographed places on the island.
Why visit
Wander through the old town to Klančić, often called one of the narrowest streets in the world, and down to the small harbour. The vineyards around Vrbnik produce Žlahtina, a fresh white wine you can taste in local cellars and konobas.
Vrbnik is ideal for a half-day visit from Krk town, Malinska or Baška, or as a quiet overnight stop with a long dinner.
Where to stay
A few apartments and rooms are in and around the old town; Krk town is a short drive away for more choice.
Getting there and around
Vrbnik is about 15 minutes by car from Krk town. Local buses run less often, so a car is easiest.
Parking
Use the car park at the entrance to the old town; the lanes inside are pedestrian.
